FAQ
What's the difference between the two Geeky Chef cookbooks?
The original Geeky Chef Cookbook was released in 2015 as a flexibound edition. It was followed by a sequel, The Geeky Chef Strikes Back, and there was also a third installment which focused entirely on fictional beverages, called The Geeky Chef Drinks. That's the original cookbook trilogy. You still with me? Good, let's take a deep breath!
In 2020, a second edition of The Geeky Chef Cookbook was released. This hardcover version includes recipes from both the original cookbook AND The Geeky Chef Strikes Back, but excluded all the drinks. Instead, all the drink recipes from those earlier books were combined into a separate hardcover volume: The Geeky Bartender. More on that below.
What's the difference between The Geeky Bartender and The Geeky Chef Drinks?
The Geeky Bartender is a hardcover volume that includes all the drinks from the original book trilogy. That's drinks from The Geeky Chef Drinks plus most of the drink recipes from the original Geeky Chef Cookbook and The Geeky Chef Strikes Backs as well.
Is there a way to make this drink non-alcoholic?
It really depends on the drink, but I’ve put together a general substitution guide here. If you're still unsure whether you can swap moon sugar for simple syrup, just send me a raven, fill out the contact form, or DM me on Insta. Happy to help or troubleshoot!
Can I find allergen-friendly or vegetarian/vegan versions of your recipes?
I do my best to include allergen info and dietary swaps in my books, but sometimes there just isn't space for everything. Head to my substitution page for some alternative suggestions and swaps. If you have specific questions, send me a raven.
Where can I find the silicone molds to make Chunks™ from Starfield: The Official Cookbook?
Chunks need to be made in 2" x 2" x 2" food grade silicone molds. For the Chunks™ that are baked in the molds, like Chunks Beef and Chunks Pie, you want
to make sure they are oven-safe for temperature up to 450°F. For
the non-cooked Chunks™, like Carbarnet Chunkingon and Chunks Cola, you
can use any 2x2x2" silicone ice mold.
There are a several options on Amazon:
And some other online stores:
If you prefer to shop local, you might be able to find them in a baking store or a craft store. I have also seen them on Etsy recently, if you want to support some independent creators!
Can I share your recipe for this video/party/post, etc.?
Absolutely! Whether it's the blog or one of the books, as long as you are also sharing where the recipe came from, share away! But keep in mind that recipes from the books—especially the officially licensed ones—may have some additional limitations depending on how and where you’re sharing them. Posting one or two recipes is usually no problem, but sharing entire books or monetizing the content could be an issue. If you’re not sure, feel free to reach out! I’m always happy to help.
